Weekly Update!

Salmon Pate, Sticky Beef, Frozen Yoghurt, Fish and Chips, Cocktail Teacups & Pancakes!

This week has been lovely and sociable! On Monday I went for lunch at Gastronomy with Tasha and Abi, I had the special which was salmon pate with crusty white bread and salad; it was delicious. It came served with a mustard mayonnaise dressing for the salad, which added a lovely acidity to the smoothness of the pate. I went for a coffee at Costa afterwards with Abi and her brother whilst I waited for Aum to finish school.

On Tuesday morning I popped round to Abbey's for a cup of tea and a catchup, it's been ages! It was lovely to have a natter, and we started plotting to persuade our parents to organise a skiing trip next year, which would be so much fun! Afterwards I went to the gym and then in the evening I had tea at the Country Club with Aum. I had a beautiful pak choi salad with sticky teriyaki glazed beef - I would definitely have it again as not only was it tasty, but it is pretty healthy and really filled me up. I went round to Rick's after work for a chat and cuppa, and lots of chocolate cookies! It was nice to see his new place (which is really nice) and I got out my iPod and we had a good reminisce with his flatmate about old school music.

On Wednesday I did my Body Pump class, and then in the afternoon met Abi for a Yogberries. It's been ages since I had one, I forgot how good they are. I had raspberries, Oreo cookies and white chocolate buttons on mine, gorge! Mo came to stay in the evening, and we had a really good Moroccan meatball tagine for tea. Thursday was fairly quiet, I did an hour long cycle which I was pretty proud of, met Abi for a coffee whilst Aum was at boxing, and then babysat in the evening.

On Friday I did Body Combat and in the evening I went out for a meal with Mo to Francs in Altrincham (see previous post). We went for a few drinks in Bloom afterwards, and then bought a bottle of wine from Tescos to take home for a drink. On Saturday we had a nice lie in, and then went for lunch at The Moss Trooper with a load of people which was a fun way to spend a Saturday. I had fish and chips which was really nice, and then once I was home I popped to Stockport with Mum.

That night Mo came round to mine for a few predrinks and then we went out in the Northern Quarter in Manchester with Abi, Tasha and Jack her boyfriend. We started in Apotheca where I had a cute cocktail in a tea cup, and then moved on to Hunky Dory and Tusk, which used to be Walrus. We didn't stay out too late as Jack was driving, but we had a fun night, and got to dance which is always a bonus!

I literally did nothing all day today except cook some pancakes for breakfast and then I've just had a Mr Selfridge marathon with Mum, bedtime!

Weekly Update!

Solitude & Selfridges!

I've been so busy this week, I haven't really had time to do very much. In a way it was good, as it kept my mind off the fact that I'm newly single! I worked Monday as usual and also did an extra shift on Thursday, so along with my late night finish on Tuesday I only had two evenings free. On Wednesday I went to the cinema to see Wanderlust (post coming next week) and had a few drinks beforehand with Charlotte; it was lovely to have a girly chat and a couple of glasses of wine before watching a funny film.

On Thursday during the day I took Aum to Yogberries, as he'd won a football trophy sponsored by them so got a free medium sized portion of frozen yoghurt. As I was there, it would have been rude not to indulge in one myself - so I chose the natural flavour with walnuts and peanut butter cups.

On Friday I had one of the rare opportunities to just do nothing, and it was awesome. I had some cider, stuck my stereo on super loud, and tried on some outfits ready for going out on Saturday. I also got the new Vogue so had a flick through that. On Saturday I worked, and then got ready to go out in Hale with a few friends. As I have a free house at the moment, a couple of people came to predrink at mine, and we were going to meet the rest out later on. However, after a few drinks, we were more than happy just chilling out at home, so stayed in and listened to some dancey tunes while having a giggle.

Today I had a lie in and then got ready to go out to Manchester. I met up with a friend for some lunch at Tiger Tiger which was really nice, I had haddock fishcake with a bean salad. Afterwards we said goodbye and I went to Selfridges for a little MAC makeup splurge. I got a couple of staples before being persuaded to buy a new eyeshadow called 'smutty green' that is black with green iridescent glitter over the top. I also checked out a Marc Jacobs bag that I saw online and want to buy - it was just as gorgeous in real life! There was a really cool display at the front of the store as well, so I took a photo to stick on here. A good mixed week!

Weekly Update!

New Cafes & New Clothes!

This week was my last week doing both my jobs, before finally being just a full time nanny next week! Because of this, again it was a pretty manic one, so I didn't really get upto anything that exciting.

On Wednesday I went out with my mum to Yogberries in Hale (see previous post) which was fun, and then on Friday Chris came to stay and we went out in Altrincham with Charlotte and Natasha. We started in the Belgian bar called Le Trappiste before moving on to Costellos wine bar in Goose Green, and then finally Bloom Jazz Club. We got a lift home at around 1.30am, and Chris and I had a couple more drinks when we got home which was nice.

On Saturday I was working at the pub, and then I babysat in the evening- it was nice to just chill out and read my book for a few hours. My gorgeous new Dr Martens boots arrived too!

On Sunday I went shopping in Stockport with mum, where I spent far too much money! I got a lovely gold chunky knit jumper from New Look, an emerald wrap around dress and a black moleskin ruffled skirt from H&M and a few bits from Primark; including some beige snakeskin skinny jeans and a couple of presents. Altogether it came to £73 though, which I didn't think was too bad for how much I bought. However, I also then came home and bought a green waterproof Adidas watch, and a Roxy multicoloured check suitcase, so it was a pricey day to say the least!

New Tastes...

Yogberries, Hale

Today I had a spare bit of time in between my two jobs (that I've nearly got down to just one!) so I met my mum for a while in Hale. Rather than just go for coffee like we normally would, we thought we'd try out the frozen yoghurt bar there that a few of my friends rave about called Yogberries. It is the only one around, and seems to be proving very popular- all the local schoolgirls go there as the cool hangout after the bell rings!

You choose a size (small, medium or large) and then a flavour of yoghurt that varies seasonally; when we went it was either vanilla, natural or chocolate/ natural swirl. You can then choose different toppings and sauces to go on it. We got a small size (which was plenty big enough for me) with two toppings, and it cost £2.45. I chose the swirled version with mini oreo cookies and raspberries, and my mum had natural with raspberries and blueberries. You can get more toppings or bigger sizes dependent on price.

I've never had frozen yoghurt before, but it was actually really nice. I found the swirled variety a little strange, as the chocolate tastes more like ice cream, so it doesn't go especially well with the natural yoghurt flavour, but my mum's was really nice, so I would probably have that next time. You could get loads of different toppings too- coconut shavings, chocolate coffee beans, passion fruit, peanut butter cups, walnuts, marshmallows, kiwi, honeycomb, it was endless! They also do smoothies, milkshakes and fresh youghurt/ granola/ fruit versions. The wide range meant you really could tailor it to anyone's taste.

It was somewhere a bit different to go, with friendly staff, and great decor! I would definitely recommend trying it out if you're in the area.
