I thought I'd do my weekly update today, as I'm off to Croatia early tomorrow morning! This week has been lovely knowing that I was only in work for two days before a couple of days off and then a holiday. On Monday I took Aum to Bap for some lunch and then to see How To Train Your Dragon 2 (see previous post). After work Mo and I went to The Little B in Sale for a few drinks with his friends; there was a good group of us out so it was nice to catch up with people and have a night socialising.

On Tuesday Aum and I went to Cafe Gourmand for lunch, where I had eggs Royale which was amazing as usual, and then in the evening Mo came round to chill out for a while. Yesterday was my first day off, so I did a Body Pump class, then had my holiday nails done and met Abi at the Country Club for a coffee. It was a gorgeous day so we were sat outside in the sunshine chatting for ages! I spent the rest of the evening packing my stuff up for Croatia and then Mo came round and we had dinner together.

Today has been a fairly relaxed one, I did a Grit class then packed the last few things into my suitcase and went round to Mum and Dad's for dinner. We had a gorgeous lasagne, and I am now just getting ready to go and see Anberlin with Jasmine. It is their farewell tour so I am sad but also hugely excited, as they are one of my favourite bands!

Another Chinese & The 'Pool

This week has been a pretty quiet one, I spent most of the week doing flat stuff and working out, though on Wednesday Abi and Hannah came round to see all the progress which was nice. On Thursday I went for a coffee in Caffe Nero in Sale with Rick, and then had my nails done - I had to adventure out of my comfort zone and try a new salon as mine was fully booked, but they did a really good job, and it was only slightly more expensive.

On Friday I invited Emily, Smeed, James and Kelly round to the flat for a Chinese and some drinks.It was my first time entertaining properly there, and I made my new table especially (it was very challenging to put together - it took Mum and I 2 hours!). We were going to play some games, but ended up just chatting which was just as fun. I drank an awful lot so felt horrendous on Saturday, which wasn't ideal as we had a trip to Liverpool that had been planned for ages to go to. I pulled myself together and went and had a great time, even though I couldn't face a huge amount of booze for a change!

Today has been spent mooching around in Liverpool; we went for breakfast, although I had a jacket potato with cheese and beans, so not very breakfasty. I am now chilling out at Mo's as usual feeling tired and hungover, and wishing I had another weekend before work tomorrow!

Weekly Update!

Reunions & Holiday Preparations!

This week has been super slow as I've been desperate for it to finish so I can go on holiday! On Monday I was feeling pensive and motivated, which I find are always two great ingredients for a run, so I did 6km in the sunshine before going round to Mo's. On Tuesday Aum had a golf lesson in Styal, so I went for a wander around John Lewis, looking at stuff for my flat that I definitely cant afford! I sent my amended article about my trip to London off to Candid (see previous post) and then went to Mo's again in the evening,

On Wednesday Aum was picked up to go to his grandparents at lunchtime, so I went to the gym in the afternoon, dip dyed my hair teal (!) and then met up with Emily and our old school friend Katie at the Slug and Lettuce in Sale in the evening. We haven't seen each other for over a year so it was really nice to catch up - so much has changed for all of us!

As Aum was staying in Pontefract until Friday, I had a nice day off on Thursday; I went to the Trafford Centre with Abi for a last minute pre-holiday shop, and though I only got a pair of shorts, they were £4 in the sale, so definitely worth venturing out for! We had lunch at the Marks and Spencer's cafe, which is always cheap and cheerful, and then headed home around 4pm.

On Friday I really didn't feel well, but had to drive to Pontefract and back to get Aum, so once I'd had my nails done in the afternoon I wanted nothing better than to collapse in bed. I had to do a bit of packing, but after that I slept soundly until this morning, when I got ready and picked a very hungover Mo up from the hotel he had stayed at with some old college friends who were visiting for the weekend. The two of us went into Didsbury to Bistro 156 for some lunch, where I had a bacon, brie and onion marmalade sandwich, and he got a full English in an attempt to feel better. I am now fully packed, and only a night's babysitting stands between me and six days in Marbella!

Weekly Update!

Bowling, Barbecues & Bar Crawls!

It was back to work this week, but not so bad as it's the school holidays so I get to have fun with Aum, and his cousin was visiting from Singapore so I had two which always makes things easier. On Monday I took them bowling at the Trafford Centre. I was hopeless as usual, but seen as the boys had the bumpers up and used the ramp, I didn't have much hope anyway! We went to Costa for a drink and cake afterwards before I dropped them at their grandparents in Oldham. That evening Mo and I watched the last Harry Potter, who knows what we'll find to watch now!

On Tuesday I got a bit of a later start, as I didn't need to leave to collect the boys until half past 8. They were at tennis all day, but we went to the Country Club afterwards for Aum's swimming lesson so had dinner there - I had salt and pepper squid again with chunky chips, this time it was mainly tentacles instead of rings, and the batter was delicious!

On Wednesday I didn't do much, I had a free taster personal training session in the morning which was good, but she charges £50 an hour so I won't be keeping it up regularly!

On Thursday I had a surprise day off as Aum went to Liverpool with his Uncle and cousin, so Mum and I went to Ikea to get some ideas for my flat. I found lots I liked, but couldn't buy anything as I have nowhere to keep it until move in day, and don't know space sizes yet which is frustrating! In the evening we had a lovely barbecue, and Mo came round to join us. We had tomato sausages, lamb burgers, pork ribs and loads of salad bits - yum! 

Friday was a quiet affair, Mo came round and we just had a few drinks in the garden in the sunshine. On Saturday we went out for lunch (see previous post) and then in the evening we went for a couple in Sale at The Kings Ransom and The Steamhouse, which had live music. I wore a new pair of white with pale blue pinstripe trousers I got for a bargain from Matalan (£7.50) with my coral coloured crop top from H&M. 

Tasha and I got a met into town afterwards and went to Grand Pacific, Australasia's new bar in Spinningfields that is really swanky. It has a huge cocktail menu and a lovely outdoor area in a cruiseliner style with massive white leather seats, so we stayed for a while before moving on to Long Bar, a pop up joint for summer which does tasty cocktails for just £6. It is outside with deck chairs and a really relaxed vibe, so was a welcome newbie to the scene. We were going to try Neighbourhood but the queue was enormous, and Alchemist stops letting in at half twelve, so we just got a taxi home afterwards.

It was nice to wake up today without a hangover! Jasmine and I went into Manchester for a shop around Primark, I got a gorgeous statement necklace for £3 in the sale, as well as a black velvet patterned body that will look great on my holiday!

We met up with Mo and went to Costa for a drink, then had a Chinese buffet at this dodgy little place in Piccadilly Gardens, which was cheap but decent for lunch. Then we headed home and chilled out in the evening.

Weekly Update!

The Waterside, The Belmore, Taps & The Old Ball - Pubs Galore!

This post may seem incomplete, as with this weekend being a bank holiday (and for me a 5 day weekend), I am technically only halfway through it. The rest I will do a post of on Wednesday when I return from my jaunt to Leeds and Hull.

On Monday I met up with Tasha and we went for a drink and cake at Gastronomy in Hale. I had a latte and a millionaire's flapjack which was really tasty, and a nice variation on the traditional shortbread base. The stodginess of the oats really complimented the gooey caramel and smooth layer of chocolate. In the evening I finished an article I had for Candid (see previous post) and sent it off ready for publication.

On Tuesday I ate at the Country Club, this time opting for the Club Roll sushi, which had tuna California rolls, with a centrepiece of prawns, cod and squid in a tangy miso sauce. The dish was amazing as usual, although I didn't rate the sauce as it had an unusual strong taste rather like horseradish, which I can only assume was a type of wasabi. Luckily it was only drizzled over the middle bits of fish, so didn't engulf the whole dish. After work I met up with Rick A for some drinks at the Waterside in Sale. I haven't been in there for literally years (in fact I think I was underage the last time I went in!!) and it was a pretty nice venue - chilled out atmosphere with good value drinks and plenty of comfy seats for a relaxed vibe. I was driving so had a couple of spritzers, but still stayed out until gone 11pm, so I was knackered when I climbed into bed!

Wednesday and Thursday were quiet, although I babysat for one of Aum's friends on Thursday which was a nice change, and wrote another article for Candid (see previous post). On Friday I finished a little early as the Khuranas were going on holiday so I picked Aum up at 2pm and once I had dropped him at home I could finish. I went to pick up my final cut dress for Laura's wedding (yay!) and then went to the gym before Mo came round for the evening. We had some lovely ribs and homemade chips for tea, and then wandered to The Belmore pub on Brooklands Road for a few drinks.

On Saturday I got to choose my kitchen and bathroom tiles for the new flat which is exciting, and then I travelled with Mo to Leeds for a night out with Jas and her mates. We went to a pub called Taps for some cheap and cheerful food for dinner (I had chicken and ham pie with chips, good ol' favourite) and then we went to the closing party of Evolution which was actually pretty good, and nice and cheap!

Today Mo and I met up with my cousins for some lunch at The Old Ball in Horsforth, which has recently been done up and is pretty nice. It is now a pizza kitchen, so I had barbecue chicken and bacon pizza while Mo got the meat medley, which had every type of meat (even meatballs!) on it. We stayed outside in the sun chatting until 4pm, and are now just about to set off for Hull to see Lydia - roadtrip weekend!
